hi all, just to update, i finally pulled my finger out and got onto the landy, just put tools down at 10pm, now thats dedication, right - i had the diff off and dismantled and changed the bearings and there casings, and replaced the nose seal, all ok, put her back on the landy, all went well, tightened the crown nut and put new split pin in, i had bought a new prop shaft so fitted that, (made school boy error, always attach gearbox side first!!! lol) refilled the rear axle with hypoid oil, all went good, so test drive! pleased to not hear that horrible bbbbrrrrrring noise, although, it seems i have a vibration coming through the chassis if that makes sense?!
i've experienced a simular noise/vibration before, it was in my brothers defender td5 when he put a lift kit on - it was put down to prop shaft trouble, hense he went back to standard!
any ideas or experiences welcome?! i'm stumped

well its a new propshaft so i doubt its the uj's but sounds like balance, ias there a solution to this problem? cheers

are the yokes of prop aligned properly that is the inner yokes at each end are in the same plane as in open ended spanner ive seen quite a few new ones assembled wrong

the prop is aligned as you said, dont think its engine or gearbox mounts as the vibration is from the rear, i've read that you can do a barn door fix with some jubilee clips!!!
