Just brought my 300tdi and seems the diff lock is jammed. Been told common fault from not being used? Solutions?? Thanks in advance

Make use of the search function mate - I've had about 10-15 tech related questions since purchasing my disco 6 months ago, and haven't to post once about them - found all the answers I needed from searching within the site.

With your situation though - I can add something that may not have been mentioned in other threads. I had to pull my whole lever assembly out and apart to un-freeze it. However after copious amounts of lubricant and tapping I got it unfrozen, but it was still jamming up trying to slide the lever across-ways.

I realised that the horizontal bar that goes from side to side was actually bent very slightly, causing it to jam even though it was all greased up. I first attempted straightening, but didn't have the necessary equipment to do it successfully. In the end I put the bar into my drill (like a lathe) and (with the help of a good looking assistant, ie. the wife) used a file to file down the bent end slightly which enabled it to slide through the "eye" smoothly.
