Land rover 110 V8 diff lock won't engage, have been trying to remove the transmission tunnel to gain access so don't have to perform keyhole surgery. Cannot get the tunnel out, I have undone fuse box and moved it as far as possible out of the way. The land rover has air con and the unit is preventing the transmission tunnel from coming out. Any ideas other than taking out air con unit?????

If you crawl under the transfer thingy, you can get someone to wiggle the diff lock stick and you can see things moving. Also, to get to the low ratio linkage things, I took the middle seat out and opened up the panel below which a gave a nice clear view, but I think the diff lock rod is further forward.

I found all of this out the hard way. Went to pick up a 110 I bought on ebay and the linkage broke on the test drive and I'm not very mechanical so there was lots of wiggling of sticks to see what everything does
