Its a 90 2.5 n/a

I no longer get my Diff Light on the dashboard when i engage the drive. The lever works fine and im "almost" sure i can tell a difference when driving with it engaged. I am going to jack it up the weekend block the back wheels and try turning the front wheel with it engaged. In theory it shouldn't move. If it does move, what are the likely things to have gone wrong, and what should i check next?

Jack up one SIDE of the car, so a front and a back wheel on the same side of the car are both clear of the ground.

Place main gearbox in neutral. Handbrake must be OFF, other two wheels must be chocked. It must be in NEUTRAL during all that follows.

Place Hi-Lo in HI, and shove it into DIFFLOCK.

Now the front and rear prop-shafts should be solidly joined together like end to end.

Get a chum to turn the back wheel. See the rear propshaft turn. You should also see the front propshaft turn and the front wheel that's off the ground should also turn the same way as the back wheel is turned.

Take hold of the front wheel and you try turning it. It should cause the back wheel to turn.

If not, DIFFLOCK is NOT engaged.

DIS-engage difflock lever. Wiggle the wheels about.
Difflock should disengage, and the centre diff should now permit motion to be lost back to the main gearbox if a wheel is turned, and the other one is held.

If Difflock is DIS-engaged, turning one wheel will NOT turn the other one, though you may see movement due to oil-drag. If you and your assistant try this, you'll find the wheels can turn independently of each other.

People got to study what goes on in diffs and diff locks.
Rocket science it is not.

check yer diff lock light bulb, check yer diff lock engaged switch
