hello,
My Landy won't start. With a fully charged battery the ignition lights come on, but when I turn the key to start I get a thunk and then all goes dark. I think its the selonoid. Does anyone know if a Ford solenoid will work? Its on the inside fender well, not on the starter proper. If not do you knoe what other car sused the solenoid? Are the gas and diesel units the same or different?
2.5 ltr diesel 4 cyl.
Any ideas would be helpful.
Its going to be sunny this weekend for the first time in a while and I wanted to drive the truck.
Thanks
Ira

Thnaks for the reply.
I'll clean the cables thsi weekend. Its supposed to be sunny here after rainin gon and off for weeks.

all diesel engine landys have a pre-engage starter, if you have a solenoid separably then you have a petrol starter, that said your problem sounds like a bad battery connection as well, hold the starter on and listen to the terminal, it mite hiss, or put a volt meter between the live on the battery ( on the lead part) and the starter terminal, you should get 12v and the 0v when the starter is operated

petrol starter dont fit diesel engines ,petrol 2 bolt diesel 3 bolt ,if it clunks and lights dim ,its could be poor battery or loose connection on starter etc or seized starter
