was going t ask this question on the P38 Diagnostics thread but thought better of it as it was going quite techy....!

can anyone point me in the right direction for the bits and bobs i would need to be able to do diagnostics myself.... !!

Laptop - check
Leads - what do i need ?
Software - where to get it from..?hopefully free...!

The only thing you can do is EAS. The ELM327 does some engine stuff on the V8 but that is all, won't work on the diesels.

No not techy, just me being dull with electric :D:D:D

Get the eas lead of Datatec, cheaper than ebay, and good service, paid for mine Wednesday night so he posted Thursday and through my door Saturday. Gives something back for all his help on the forum too, he even supplies a disk with the rsw software on and a copy of rave. You will need to have or get a usb adapter though if you do not have a serial port on your puter.

Datatec sells them, look it the thread you linked to to find him, he has posted a couple of times, just pm him and he will email you his details. Very helpful chap!!

Is their anything that will work on a diesel besides T4 or can T4 be got.
