Don't know about P38 but I bought it for the TD5 which was clearly advertised and it did not work, I wrote to the company but not much help:

Yes on the brief it says Range Rover 1999-2012, I take it something changed on the P38 in 1999?
No mention of the diesel tho'

It will not do the diesel, and I doubt it does the BECM on the P38.
My friend took such a device Aliexpress.com: ?????? ????????? vci ( 2014 02 R2 ???????????? ??????????? + Keygen ) DS150E ? bluetooth obd2 OBDII OBD II ?????????? ?????? CDP ???????????????? ???? ??? D. He says that he reads Td5 well.

That's just an OBD2 reader as far as I can see, and of no real use in this context.

Just removes or tells you what the error is? It will not do the BECM, the diesel EDC or the EAS as far as I'm aware.
