Hi..lately Im finding it a bit weird to find out that every a couple of months I have to top up the clutch hydraulic cup behind the engine which is practically impossible to reach... I notice that whenever the cup is empty the gears get quite difficult to engage.. Any plausible causes?

I have seen this problem on Freelanders even with new clutch cylinders fitted.

Over time the fluid levels drop, i use a surgical syringe with a rubber pipe on the end to top them up.

Keep an eye on it and it should be fine but i have also never seen any sign of leakage at all from anywhere in the systems to back up the leak theory.

Could it be the Master cylinder leaking into drivers footwell or slave cylinder leaking into clutch area?

if its a td4 then I'd say its the slave leaking into the bellhousing, take the undertray off and look at the bottom of the bellhousing where it meets the engine, you'll see 2 holes, poke your finger in and feel around inside the bellhousing, if your finger is wet or there's brake fluid on the undertray then its leaking, get it done now cos it will fail completely and you'll end up with the clutch pedal stuck on the floor.

So if he's going backwards at the rate of two months a night when will he reach the beginning of Landy Zone, and will there be a big bang?
