Hey Chaps,

Just done a De-Cat & Straight through on my TD5 (sounds awesome btw :D ) just wondering if that X-member below the Cat needs to be there?

May well be a stupid question..

Quite lucky I decided to do this, there was some rust behind it :( not too bad but not excellent either.

Well, if you do the sort of thing depicted in your user picture, it's probably helping the rigidity quite a lot. TD5s don't seem to have a lot of cross-membering. Aside from the detachable one there's only the one in front of the engine, the one the rear suspension A frame is attached to and the rear rust trap. There were considerably more on our old Series, I seem to remember.
