right guys was thinking about getting a winch , i have a standard defender 90 would like to know what i need to upgrade and buy also how much it is going to cost?.

i don't fully understand the question in regards to upgrading but in my opinion you will need :- winch bumper, winch (which will come with all relevant wiring) you may need more more electrical wiring depending on what length the winch comes with, also i would suggest you install a cut off switch to isolate the winch when not in use. other than that i can't see that you would need anything else. as regards to prices you get what you pay for in regards to quality and the prices vary so much it would be hard to give any exact prices mate.

i would'nt say that you def need a new battery or alt but it can't hurt to upgrade those if you see fit bud. but most upgrade the battery and alt to aid with starting the vehicle on cold mornings and to help run extra accesories. just make sure you keep the engine running whilst using the winch and i can't see you having any probs mate. you could install a hand throttle to keep the revs up whilst doing so if you want.
