By tube type do you mean rock sliders or side steps?

One provides off road protection the other provides a step to get in, but little protection.

Cant help but say...
Then why did you buy a Defender?:confused:

If you can spanner and have a drill then any steps you buy will fit.

If you have a galvanised chassis and are reluctant to drill it then you might be better looking at tree sliders rather than steps. The ones I have fitted to mine did not require any drilling and mounted to existing hole. Althouh designed for off roading they do act as a step and make getting in and out much easier they are just a little higher than the actual steps you are looking at.

That picture is not clear as it cuts the end of the steps off. However, they look like the design that bolts to the bulkhead outrigger and then to the sill rail with a bar that goes across to the chassis rail to take the strain. I went for the type that bolts to the bulkhead outrigger and tubular outrigger as I didn't want my sill rail taking the strain.
