Hi guys, I am going to be working on a short tribute video to the Defender as its end of production looms nearer. One thing I would like to include is some footage of the Defender production line, but I cannot find any anywhere! if anyone knows where I can get some that would be great. Thank you.

S'pose you could try asking the Land Rover Public Relations department.

If they are able to let you have any footage, you could also get it cleared for copyright before you go public with your tribute.

Yeah well I doubt I'll get full copyright for it as ill be using so many sections of video from so many sources. whilst we're on that topic, can everyone post any suggestions of any particular thing they would like included in the video. I haven't decided on a background song yet but i've got a few ideas. So strange that I cant find any footage of the production line. If anyone has any footage of the Series being produced in the factory that would also be good. I find it so sad, especially having been to the Defender production line where the they've always been built that after 2015, after nearly 70 years it will be an empty lifeless warehouse. Maybe even to be knocked down and replaced with another building or a boring office block. :frown: The video will capture as much of the land rover as can be in such a small space of time. Ther'es no real time limit but there's only so much you can do.

you'll not get production line footage, they're built in the dark - how else would they the panel gaps so far out. :D

not much out there about fenders being made found this piccie though

Yeah I when I went to the factory it was awesome to see the Defenders being hand built still in the factory. And to stand in the spot where mine came off the line all those years ago :) Gonna hit hard when they're no longer there.

The video makes you realise how labour-intensive it is to make compared to the other models. It will nevertheless be a sad day when the last one finally comes down the production line after so many years. But then old cars have to make way for new models in the end.

Enjoyed that, thanks for posting and as previous comments its amazing how labour intensive they are to assemble. Good stuff

You'll be _very_ lucky to get any.

When we worked building the RR production lines we had to leave cameras and phone cams outside, with strict instructions that if anyone took pics, let alone vids, that the whole company, not just the person, would be removed permanently from the site.

Most videos you'll find will probably therefore be professional videos and copyrighted.

Y I haven't decided on a background song yet but i've got a few ideas.

Many a good video is ruined by the wrong music or loud music (ok, you can turn the volume down), one persons taste is not a 'one size fits all'. Gentle easy listening background music is just fine, the interest should be in the video content and not the music, good luck ;)
