Also another thing that someone may be able to help me with, how come down the doors I have a galvanised metal strip like on the series Land Rovers? I didn't think the 90's or any Defenders had these? Do you think at some point it has had a Series door put on it?

Right I've got it down to one of two possibilities, it's either LRC440 which is Venetian Red or LRC378 which is Masai Red...these are the only shades of red around when my Land Rover was made (reg May 1985)
The Masai Red was around long before on the Series Landys and the early 90's and 110's up to Feb 1985 but the newer Venetian Red was around from Feb 1985 onwards as an option for the Defender...Mine was reg in May 1985, do you think it will be the newer Venetian Red?

Hmmm the Venetian red looks a bit darker there than a Landy I've seen resprayed in it...Here are some pictures of a resprayed 90 in Venetian Red:
That looks very similar to my colour. I have ordered a can of each spray paint from Britpart to see which is a better match, should be here on Friday hopefully.
Do you have any ideas as to why my Defender has the galvanised strips along the sides and along the doors? I thought these were colour coded on the Defenders? Could I have a series door on it do you think?

If youve got wind up windows it wont be a series door ,I think the early defenders used the series door skins with the handles in a recess for a time ,a series door is in two parts ,top and bottom the defender is a one piece door I think ,no doubt someone will tell me if I am wrong

I've finally got round to sorting out getting some paint to respray my Defender however I have got conflicting information on the paint codes. I now know that the colour is definitely Masai Red however the paint code given here none metallic colour is LRC378 but the paint code given here Colour codes by model - Defender is LRC234...does anyone know which is the right one?
