HI,
I am now the owner of a defender 300 TDI. Could anyone suggest, recommend people to bounce in the Norfolk, Norwich area, garages what ever you would suggest. I am a first time owner of the mighty Defender and love it all though it scares the Kack out of me some time.
I am stuck on some of the easiest problems!! For instance buy bits i want or get the underneath shot blasted and Waxoyld there is a garage here doing a shot blast and three coats of Waxoyl for £130.00. What do you reckon????

There is TJC land rovers and Hayward 4x4 in Norfolk, they may be able to help you. £130 seems very cheap, it barely covers the labour alone! Are you sure they don't mean steam clean and waxoyl? I've never heard of shotblasting the entire underside of a vehicle, usually just the chassis or a bit of bodywork etc once removed from the vehicle.

Tbh a box frame will usually rot from the inside out it's best to go around with a small ball Paine hammer and tap, your know when there is a rotting part by the sound of it just keep rear part clean and dry and painted and the same for the outriggers these are the main rotting parts for the chassis other wise sort any pending rotting parts other wise don't worry it will last for years or you can paint old engine oil mixed with paraffin all over for a protective coat .

thanks for the replies i agree i was surprised out at how cheap it was. They will jet wash on top if needed. It appears there main work is truck trailers and they do other vehicles as a side issue. The shot blasting they reckon is just to knock any flake of!! but it is a bit scary if there is a world of welding needed afterwards. If i get the job done i will post some photos but a bucket of oil and paraffin sounds a damn site cheaper...

Car restoration East Sussex, Car paint removal Surrey, Sand Blasting Sussex, Media Blasting Surrey, Shot blasting car Portsmouth, Classic car restoration East Sussex, Car paint stripping Crawley. I worked here for years I do not recommend having your chassis shot blasted , the amount of grit and dust generated can premature wear to running gear and other components it acts like a grinding paste not recommended even if masked you can not truly protect some parts . It should be removed from car prior to blasting send drop a line and speak to the manager to find out well the pro,s and cons of such a task.

Thanks again everyone the grit sounds a real worry..... Also thanks for the link for the guys in Beccles not to far at all. in Norfolk terms!!!!

Problem number two!! I want to convert to a full soft top i am presently running as a hard top with a County lid with a full liner and the plastic fancy bits for the sides, sides, are dark grey roof lime white with sunroof!
I also have a Truck cab to get rid of in dark green with a black roof plastic bit inside with a liner which will need recovering as it drooped, the last owner cut the white bit of! finally a tail gate for the same.
Would any one would be interested in swapping for a full hoop set and a canvas or know someone who would! wrong time of the year i know but it was worth an ask.....
