looking at the fender its now getting a full make over,the eggsause looks fairly new but the tailpiece looks **** is there such a thing as a performance nice looking back box for a fender that can be fitted to the standard set up?

I looked for one when I had to replace my back box a few months ago but couldn't find anything. Either has to be adapted or custom made it seems, nothing off the shelf.

yeah

could put a small muffler in centre to make it a little quieter if needed

A mate made mine from stainless pipe that started life as a patio heater, a couple of bends and a tiny bit of flexi pipe- it's noticeably better than the old one and cost less than £20

As Doc Evil says it's easy to include a silencer somewhere, Jetex make them in all shapes and sizes for reasonable prices.

You could also try Griffin - they do complete performance pipes for TDi Defenders but they aren't cheap.
