my 89 110 sw doors are all getting bit scabby, was thinking of looking at one of shows for some more.
up to what year will fit straight on?
is it pos/worth hassle to upgrade to ones with electric windows?
if i go electric what other bits will i need apart from switches/relays?

cheers.

If you untape the wiring in the wings, that comes out of the bulkhead, you should find the connectors that contains the required positive and negative. Make an extension that utilises the aformentioned connectors, feed them through the bulkhead into the doors and connect them into the motor connectors. Easy job. Can't recall which fuze it is on but should be easy to identify.

Tis more to go wrong, I bought later 1 piece doors from breakers, cheaper than you might think, loads cheaper than eBay or shows.

Anyways, I took the leccy windows out opting for the keep fit items, kept the central locking tho, technology is good for some things.

I dont like cutting into looms, If I was going to do it I would power them from an automatic relay under seat, as I would for any other electrical mods fitted. Easy to trace faults and prevent problems with the necessary stuff you would have had to splice.

You could also use a normal relay with a live from alternator but that means more trailing of wires.

What for leccy windows? The first time they were fitted to a defender was late 90s wasn't it? Was it foresight on land rovers part?

No, I'm not saying that LR fitted it for that purpose. Rather that there is sufficient wiring in place to facilitate electric windows.

Electric windows? What next, a mini-bar?

Lol. I have gone the opposite way to you. I have replaced my rotten doors with series ones, a lot cheaper and I prefer the sliding windows over the windy and electric ones.

I paid £200 per complete 2009 door, including back door. They are naturally halved and shut superbly

Question for thats being silly cheap, Did you not think with them being so cheap that they might of been stolen???? How would you feel about yours getting nicked and people buying cheap parts to fix there's????

Manor auto salvage in ireland, receipted and they are off the same smashed up 110 as listed on eBay!

Believe me fur trapper, my morals lay higher than yours In that department, and yes your unjustified comment has ****ed me off.

Bid on eBay, compete with the rest of the world and You will be stung, contact the legitimate breakers and spend time looking and you may be suprised, you think you have bought goods with honest origin just cos you have paid a fortune?.

I would be happy for the old bill to take a fine toothed comb to mine, and give them receipts for every bit of it! Can you?, so please don't go pointing fingers.

Well David, I'm a very careful when it comes from buying items. If some one is selling things far below what cost of new is well I'll step away. If it is to good to be true it usually is. Now a farm auction that is different you know the source of things. Glad you got buying morals then. And don't be so touchy
