Right then my defender just decided to loose its breaks 1 day, as they do! After a quick inspection I noticed a rear calliper leaking. This was replaced although made no difference. I then got hold of a master cylinder and servo which again, made no difference.

The pedal only gos half way down then its solid, unless I crack one of the front bleed nipples. Loosen the rears it still only gos half way down. I clamped the rear flexi and the pedal is solid, not a bit of movement!

Any ideas what this could be as I'm really lost with it now?! Any help much appreciated.

basically ,is pedal hard but not applying brakes ,dont forget its a dual master cylinder part nearest the bulkhead works front brakes front part rear brakes,so it wont necssary reach floor if only rear nipple is released

Pedal is soft untill half way then solid. When rear nipple is open it is the same. When the front nipple is open it gos to the floor.
I clamped the rear flexi and the pedal is solid, no movement at all.
The brakes hardly slow the vehicle at all

does vehicle have good hard pedal once bled ,does it brake evenly ,does pedal seem hard to press ,if foot held hard on pedal and held does it sink a little once engines started

Yes the pedal will sink untill half way then solid. You can pump it untill pedal feels ok but once engine is started or its is left it's soft untill halfway. Breaking is almost non existent. I've bled the whole system through and it makes no difference at all.
