hi all,

Last night i noticed a funny noise when first moving off with pressing the acceleration pedal and releasing it, there is a funny like rattling noise coming from what sounds like behind where the pedals are...
at first I thought it was my clutch as I need to replace the master and slave cylinder as it been leaking into the footwell but haven't got round to it yet. (could it be that too?).

it is a very noticeable noise and has only started happening last night and this morning. now I'm pretty concerned.

Has anyone got any ideas please?

much appreciated.

thanks

It's more of a squeaking and scraping noise and only occurs when moving off as in when applying pressure to the accelerator pedal. once firm pressure is applied fully with increase in speed the noise goes away. When in traffic it happens, sometimes it can be really faint and not too noticeable, other times very loud and sometimes doesn't happen. But, never heard the noise before yesterday evening.

Please someone reply!

anything is appreciated, thanks

Sit in your vehicle engine not running use only the clutch pedal in the way you would use it when pulling away (slowly) is the squeak present? If so it is most likely the spring on the clutch pedal link- https://www.landroverworkshop.com/d.../vehicle-controls-controls/clutch-pedal_53772
This will just need a little grease, access it from inside the vehicle directly above the clutch pedal if you have insulation you will need to gently pull this down to gain access. Grease it all over not too much though as you will get it on your best suit next time it is hot inside the vehicle.
Did I just say hot inside a defender? well you know what I an getting at.

Cheers for your replies! turns out it was the front Prop shafts Rear UJ that had gone and needed replacing.

Took it into a Landy specialist and got it done.

Cheers
