Hi all
Well after me Disco went west, I could only survive 3 weeks before suffering withdrawl symptoms, so I've bought myself a G Reg Defender 90.

I have a few questions, though....

1. It has an oil leak, which appears to come from the Rocker Cover. Is this a common fault ?

2. It hasn't got power steering, although I have been told it can be added. Is this correct, and if so, how easy / difficult is it to fit.

leaking rocker cover gasket is a common problem but easilly fixed (5-6 quid and three nuts) power steering is relitivly easy to fit. you will need power steering pump ,bow and pipework. you will also need the braket that hold the alternator to be swaped for one that hold a pas pump as well. it is quite easy to do but getting all thew bits together maybe difficult.

Mine has no power steering, I must admit it does take some effort when moving slowly on tarmac. It doesn't help when there's no grip left on the steering wheel either.

ive been informed the oposite... in that fitting PAS is difficult. oil on your rocker may be your oil breather seal blowing oil over the cover... just something else to look at.

Thanks all
Well I took the Car to the local Jet Wash, early Sunday morning (about 7) applied lots of Gunk de greaser / engine cleaner, and Jetwashed the Car, Engine and inside as well as outside.

No Oil coming from Rocker Cover, or anywhere else for that matter, but will keep my eye on it.

Thanks all for the info re power streering....
