Searched the site but can`t find any answers. Replaced my 65amp alternator with a 100 amp model. Is it possible to adjust the alternator regulator to give the batteries more juice? Or is this not advisable. I run a split charge to do 2 batteries, but when i have the fan on to demist and the high beam and driving lights on, it seems to want a bit more power to keep both batteries connected. The split charge favours the main battery of coarse, so disconnects the aux battery until it gets to a required voltage, then engages. Any ideas or assistance would be much appreciated.

I wouldn't have thought that would be possible, and if it was, it is probably not advisable to mess around with.

More to the point though, have you checked what voltages you are getting from the alternator and at each battery in that case?

I'd be quite surprised if just having the fan and high beam on, was too much for your alternator to cope with, even your standard alternator should cope with that.

It could be a sign that you've got some other big drain or bad connections somewhere that is stopping you getting 14 volts. MAybe you've not wired the new one in correctly?

you can fit a smaller pulley ,but increasing voltage would harm batteries etc,surely you only charge one at a time seems to be working okay

Yes already got a disco pulley, smaller. It all seems to work fine and batteries are well charged. Just thought that with the larger alternator it would put out a little more. Cheers.

Will the rest of the loom take this extra ampage?

As I seem to remember there is some issue with just upping the rating of an alternator on a standaard loom.
