My first post,so here goes!
I have just bought my first land rover,a 2004 model 110 defender pick up,not hicap, which I have had converted into a tipper.Plan is to carry payload of 1-1.5 ton so I am thinking uprated suspension is going to be needed.
My dilemma is this, standard lr hd suspension uses twin rear springs-a progressive main spring rbk101111 rated at 270-420lbs per inch.(already fitted I think). This is combined with a helper spring rated at 130lbs,so a combined max rating of 550.
Wolf suspension uses a single rear spring rated at 451lbs so I suppose that means it is designed to take less weight.Despite this I cant help but think that the wolf set up would suit me best, simpler to fit, cheaper and past experience of ex mod machinery is that it will take some serious abuse and usually far out performs its listed rating.
Hoping for some advice from those that know.
Road use only and I am not bothered about a slightly harder ride when empty.I just want something that will last and stick the work.
Finally, should I also upgrade shocks and fit anti roll bars, maybe wolf version also.Body is quite short(to minimise rear axle overload)and fairly high.

just go for reputable hd springs... i went to extreme 4x4 for some bits and they were very good... explain your plans n most companies will supply a suitable single spring

cheers steve

Sounds like extreme 4x4 is the place to go then.I had been thinking that I needed genuine parts to be sure of quality, from what you say obviously not the case. Thanks for the advice, this stuff is all new to me.
