Hey guys!

I've got this weird fault in my TD5 2001 Defender 110. The head lights along with parking lights dont work sometimes.

If I park my car for sometime and when I come back and switch the lights on nothing happens. Not even the parking lights work. And if I leave the switch on they do eventually turn on, sometimes taking more time.

Has any one experienced this before? I'll appreciate if you guys can give me any pointers.

Both sides or just one, front or back or both? - if both sides and front and back could be a dodgy relay in the box. Do other lights do funny things like come on dimmer etc (as this would point to an eath fault.

The best thing to do is to remove a bulb when they are not working as see if there is a voltage between the battery -ve terminal and the positive supply to one of the lamps. If there is not then it is going to be a problem on the supply side (i.e. fuse box, relay, or switch) if there is a good voltage (>12volts) then is is going to be an earth issue. I favour strongly the former rather than the later - but them again i'm wrong some of the time as well

Nothin works at all... like no head lights or parking lights front or back. And no lights in the cluster etc...

And when they... they work absolutely fine.

Then i would check the relays...............
