Hi guys.

Well we have had the FFR for about a year and have finally decided to do something with it. It needs a new rear crossmember, bulkhead outrigger on the drivers side and a serious repairs to the bulkhead.

We had already bought some repair panels for the bulkhead but a secondhand one was bought off ebay for a good price to speed up the work.

What we have really been trying to work out is what to do with it?? The wife and i have been in 2 minds as to restore it back to its military look or do something different. Here are some pics.

We removed the wing and grill at the old house. It is compleate, but the duct tape was only to hold the wing on when towed to the new house.

Rear Cross member, Curmbling nicely..

Below is the bulkhead and cross member.

We do have a better rear door and the secondhand bulkhead comes with a windscreen and some of the other bits we need so hopefully costs should not be that high as its only done 115K Kms and is mechanically seems very good.

Nice bit of aircon!

If you have the room, I'd be inclined to strip everything off down to the chassis, which will then let you get easy access to everything that you need ... especially of you have another bulkhead to go on.

Thats what we are inclined to do now. Had a further poke around and found some more rotten bits on the chassis so the the rear tub has to come off to fix properly.

Can anybody tell what the lamp holder under the chassis next to the fuel tank on the drivers side is for?? I will try and upload a pic.

Convoy light. That's the light they turn on so the squaddy following doesn't ram the truck in front in blackout conditions. This is also why you will find the rear diff cover painted white on some trucks...

Bulkhead had turned up and it needs a few repairs but nothing like the one thats on it. Unfortunatly the windscreen that came with it was cracked in transit. It would of been handy to have but not important, the frames is ok so that will probably go back on ebay at some point. We have decided to strip it right down to make the chassis welding easier and most of the other repairs. Picked up a new bottle of gas for the mig today and hopefully will have the body striped down in the next week or so. I will start a new thread for the rebuild.

We are sort of going to re-militarise (sp?) it but without the radio gear. We may put the operators table and seating back in if we can find some nearer the time.

Wow. Thats an impressive build. Like the rad haz kit and may order one for ours, however i dont think ours ever had one!. Also really liked like the look of the wheels and tyres. Mmmm. Its got me thinking, However i still have to fix the chassis on mine... Thats the first job.. However we did join the EMLRA today. That should help a bit.

my one never came with a rad haz kit. They were made for the wolfs I believe (although when I was serving I never drove a wolf with one). Just keep your eye on ebay as they go for really cheap sometimes.

Have a few radhaz kits on my watch list now..

The regulator turned up for my new bottle of gas (old one got broken in the house move) so now should be all set. Also got a snap-on 160A mig welder to replace the old clark that died a few years back. So going to have a practice on some scrap to get my eye back in. I like the new (to me) welder, its nice and big. The old clark always looked a bit dwarfed by the bottle....
