After much humming and argh ing I've finally decided to sell my beloved 90 and get a Disco 2. The ads now in the For Sale section. Wife has treated herself to a 2 seater Z4 so I now have to carry the kids more and the 90 is now done and completed so I'm fancying a bit of a project or interest.
My original plan was a facelift Disco2 with ACE as I am after more a fast (well, faster) road car then an off roader. However its surprising how you can go wrong as when I spoke to my Landrover expert who builds, re builds etc he suggested avoiding the facelift (you just get headlamps nicked all the time) and the ACE (just more to go wrong) and even the air suspension (great when it works and gives a great ride but bags go and people dont fix them and this wears the compressor as its not designed to keep going to make up for a leaky bag. And, compressors are expensive to replace.)
So it threw my original idea really though Im still insisting on leather (better for dog hairs) and I do want those folding arm rests on the front seats so reminiscent of the classic RR I used to own. I also want the better hi fi. The plan then is a better exhaust as I love how they sound and a remap, not that I want a road burner but its just an interest seeing how it changes etc.
My expert also told me how the chassis go on the 2's which is really disappointing as LR dont seem to learn from past experiences with for instance the original Discos. And...it has to be manual! I really dont get on with autos!
