I changed the cat out for a decat pipe on my 300 tdi today, the car seems amazingly easier to drive now, revs stay up well when changing gear, tickover is a lot better, engine sounds better all round, and at low speeds it's better, also sounds like the turbo is breathing better too, i also fitted an egr blank kit with bypass pipe a couple of weeks ago.
The thing is, when i first gave it some hard throttle, a great plume of black sooty smoke belched out, this continued when the throttle was dapped untill it had warmed right up to what i call normal, this doesn't seem as bad when warm, i get a bit of a puff when it's warm still, could this be ok, to do this when accelerating, and under load ? or is this going to manifest itself into something bigger.
I searched the threads for similar posts, and a few people have commented on this, the engine seems so much more responsive now, and it would be great if i could leave the decat pipe on as it's made alot of difference ?
cheers
