evening all. Quick question regarding the three nuts that attach the turbo to the exhaust manifold - what size spanner do you use? 13mm too big, 12mm too small, 1/2inch just about right but would still round the bolt. Is there something better? I was lucky when I recently did the TD5 Defender I just managed to do it before completely f*****g the nuts - and a bolt removal tool won’t fit on them all so I’d rather not take a chance this time!
Thanks

+1 ideally use some nice copper flashed nuts and some washers, makes it easier to remove next time :)

they are 13mm but 1/2 inch probably a better fit as nut are slightly tapered you need a decent spanner not a cheapy

We only do cheapy!! Saying that I have got a little set of Teng spanner’s which might be better despite probably being Chinese!

youll have a lot of rounded nuts and bolts, you can help the nut by whacking as many flats as you can with a hammer and flat headed punch,it stretches them

Are Teng not very good? They were a present I’ve not used them yet

Ive got them on my turbo, its been off 4 times this yeah and the nuts still look perfect. Same ones that come with the Würth manifold studs

Got them holding me manifold on too, the idea is the nut will fail before damaging a stud

That said, i said copper flashed, not brass!
