Have worn front inner CVs (knocking) and would like to replace with new ones but can't find anywhere. Aftermarket are worse than my worn ones as I've already tried them and produced Vibration. New ones from landrover dealers are sold complete with shaft and was quoted 700euro locally so that's ruled out.

The problem is that mine is a TD4 2L (year 2000) and has GKN the inner tripod CV like this which has 3 disks that rotate in several directions not like the others which slide in and out in a linear movement. Have checked some brakers locally but no CV joints like mine.

Did some research and found out that similar to mine are used on other vehicles such as the Toyota RAV4 and VW passat but don't know if they will fit my half shaft. anyone has some experience with other vehicles and/or may get dimentions?

I believe that some Rover cars use the same CV as the FL1 front joints.
I think the Rover 45/ MGZS uses the same inner joint. If that's the case, the Rover shaft could well be cheaper than the LR shaft.
This is all just theory though.

don't use aftermarket as they all produce vibration. I think you'd be better off with a pair of used ones. but I'm not that lucky as locally the only ones braking are the 1.8 or later model TD4 which have different shafts. The one in the link you posted @Nodge68 looks like the ones on the aftermarket shafts I had. one was brit part and the other don't remember the make. internally the had the tripod bearing like the one in the 2nd pic attached above and that produced lot of vibration which I had also posted in another thread in this forum. drive shaft was hitting the inner rail/splines in the CV "Cup" due to lack of articulation. Mine is lifted by 2 inch so that made come out more than others.

will try researching the rover driveshafts as suggested. any idea if BMW used same inner CVs?
 
Is there a problem using the whole drive shaft if off a car of similar year? I thought so long as the brake disks were the same you'd be fine.
 
alreaddy tried with 2 aftermarket drive shafts but had the one in the 2nd pic aboove and meant less articulation. they prouced lot of auful vibration trough whole vehicle. was unbearable. now put old factory ones back in and producing some knocking when accelerating but nothing serious. changed rubber boots and filld again with grease but no improvement as it spits the access grease out and begins to knock again.
 
It won't fit.
You need both parts to be correct. Not just the inner tripod.
Why not just buy some genuine LR shafts?

I was thinking about getting an OE Rover shaft and just using the inner joint.
I'm not 100% sure the FL1 and Rover joints are the same however.

I found this in my shed today when I was clearing it out, I also found a Rover MGZT front drive shaft. completely forgot I had them as spare they have not yet been needed, the FL1 is now being moved on for the FL2, link to where I got the FL1 drive shaft from, the RMG one is genuine one.

Back to square one. Contacted rimmer bros and looks like OE ones are no longer available. So out of ideas.
