Hi Iv currently got a husky 8 winch. I'm thinking of making a custom mount so it fits nicely in the grill with original bumper. I had one before on an old disco but was made by someone else, but i swapped it for a proper bumper and have since swapped discos and have lost original mount. Has anyone else made something like this? If so how difficult is it? What size steel etc did u use? Are there any pics available?
Never tried welding or anything but have the tools available to have a go myself, so thought I'd have a go!
Any ideas will be much appreciated

got two spare trays atm, one which is being turned into a tray for a shogun monocoque frame and the other is being turned into another bumper for myself

A previous owner made the tray in mine. It's just a sheet of 6mm steel welded between the chassis at the front and it has a 4" upstanding at the front for the fairlead to mount to. I guess if you don't wanna weld it in it would be easy enough to make it bolt on.

I did this a few months back, got a mounting plate cut by local fabricators then welded it onto a steering guard then welded on 2 additional plates onto the sides to act as recovery points
