Hi my ctek charger has come today. It has an option for charging to 14.4v and 14.7v . I think I have seen 14.7 v mentioned here somewhere for charging. Is that correct.

Thanks for that. Which manual will tell me what charge rate to set then, a range rover manual is it.

The ctek instructions say, 14.4v for wet,ca/co,mf,gel and some agm batteries.
14.7v for most agm batteries like optima and odyssey.

Yes i googled that too..i just want to know wether to set it to 14.4 or 14.7 . that nonsense means nothing to me. Thanks for your reluctant help all the same
haha, you sounded like you couldn't be arsed looking 
if yours is a normal lead acid just use 14.4V
if it's an unknown AGM then again i'd stick with 14.4
14.7 is useful when it's cold as the temp causes differences to charge rates. Also some batteries like optima will tell you exactly what's what. ie Support - Battery Care - Charging | OPTIMABATTERIES
afaik though, if you constantly 14.7 charge unknown batteries (ie chinese with no specs) then it can shorten the lifetime.
but tbh, i doubt it matters much at all, especially as it's a smart charger.

Nice one I shall set it to 14.4 then, I would have gone for the higher option . Using the search here 14.7 is mentioned . I think the ctek instructions assume that one is already an expert on batteries which I am not as my post shows.

58 pounds on Ebay,its the version 5.0 I bought a ring smartcharge 1st but it was faulty out of the box so I ordered one with a good reputation . Cars been going flat in 2 days of late so plan to keep it on charge constantly.Or until I get around to trying to find the reason. It doesn't get used much maybe once every week or 2.

Well the Aldi one is perfect, I use mine when I'm away for 3/4 weeks at a time (Roll on 2 weeks tomorrow) It won't charge a flat battery but will maintain a charged one.

In nearly 30 years of motoring I have never needed a battery charger or charged one up.Other than batteries for my powertools,they all vary in type but you just plug it them in and come back in a bit. No thinking req. Not being lazy just trying to make sure as it seems nothing on these cars is as straightforward as I wish and as I said I would have gone for the 14,7v as I read that was the alternator output.

All checks done, battery A ok, r/f fine now but I've had flat batteries in the past and it's cost me a shed full of money. For the cost of a charger I've never had a problem for the past couple of years.

Thought I would be clever and use the hardwire and quick connect kit , loosened battery live bolt now have a dash warning about resetting windows. They go up and down tho .lol
When you disconnect the battery you have to reset the windows, the procedure is in the manual...
Get in, turn on ignition, close doors, open the first window, keep your finger on the button for 2 seconds at the bottom of the travel, then raise the window (it will beep at you and tell you it is not set), keep your finger on the button for a couple of seconds at the top (it will beep again and then tell you the window is set)....repeat for the other windows and the sun roof!

The Aldi one is a Ctek one that's why - just the base model.
