your right but somtimes they stick on when completly cold and take a few mins to free up, does it roar on start up?

Mine does for the first 3/4 of a mile then frees off. I like my viscous fans, look cool, sound cool and they **** of the greenies :D

Covering the bottom of the rad comes from the days long ago when vehicles ran a 74 degree stat in summer and it was changed to a 84 degree stat in winter. Anti freeze was an old army great coat draped over the warm engine at night. Those who could not be arsed changing the stat blocked the bottom of the rad to make the engine run a bit warmer or it overcooled. I can remember fitting heaters on the pre delivery check. They were an optional extra on some cars in those days.

Your old wammers :p

Not that bloody old. You would be surprised how many cars did not have heaters back in the days of yore. Maybe my memorys playing up, but can remember retro fitting heaters to i think some Morris minors when i started serving my time back in the sixties. It is a long time ago.

lol when my gran had her , I think 54 morris minor it had a little leccy smiths heater in it , didnt do much mind and she was always wiping the windows lol

try putting it in low range 1st gear, the rev the hairy **** off it!!! it'll get warm in 20 yards!! plus its funny to be trapping along and passing peugots!!

Maybe it did but i think they were an optional extra and not a standard fit. The little round ones with two flaps. Remember them well, that is what we used to fit.

Thanks fett! Yeah I saw that - Khrystal said it was a temporary measure whilst his thermostat was buggered, but gonna go do the same to mine and see if it helps - if not, then only a bit of cardboard!!

Haha, fair enough! Well you just reminded me, so just went out and did the same - will see if it warms up and quicker on the journey home. If it gets too hot, i'll rip it off, but I don't think that is going to happen somehow...it's still -2'C out there!

Well that has helped no end! Heats up much quicker now in the mornings, and sits just below halfway now once warmed up, rather than 1/4 up from the bottom. Also means the heaters warm up that bit quicker too, so that's good!

Will remove it when the weather gets up to 4 or 5'C but for now it's staying :)

In the 60's you could buy a roller blind that went down in front of the RAD when you pulled a string in the car, real hi tech:clap2::cheer2::clap2:
