firstly thanks for taking time to have a look at thred
right temp when running from cold temp gose up
slowly then reaches the red the temp light flashers
then after a few min drops and stays on first white line is it an air lock
or knackerd thermastat [just replaced head gasket ] second time its happend
secondly will the lower steering shaft from a 300tdi disco
fit a 200tdi thanks martin

For the cost I'd change the stat anyway!

Could be air or tired stat did you renew it when you done the head

no dident change it was ok before head was done
the engine dident over heat it had oil in water
had just started to go as i changed it
will change it for price but if i were sumat else
save messing in winter
