Hello all,
I only drive my P.38 the odd weekend ( MY2000 4.0 HSE ) and have noticed with it sitting about unused in my driveway that the inside of the front windscreen is misting up with condensation badly especially with the cold weather. I have checked the carpets in front and rear foot wells -they are dry ( I replaced the 'o' rings at the heater matrix at start of this year and its not loosing coolant.)

I popped out the spare wheel and found some water in the well .. but can't detect how its gettin g in there . Any ideas or suggestions as to the cause and a cure/fix ?

Also, I'm running on 295/40 x 20 Pirelli Scorpions shod on Stormers -- what tyre pressures would you recommend ?

Must get pics up ...Rangey is stunning in Java Black and wheels really set it off -turns heads everywhere I go :))
 
Check for blocked aircon drains. Oh and it turns heads because everyone thinks you're a drug dealer with those wheels, hope you have the blacked out windows as well:behindsofa:
 
Morning,
I had water in the boot and tried to cure it by replacing the boot seal and drilling a hole in the boot floor. This worked until I found the boot wet a few months later. I removed the trim around the rear seat belt mounts and found that the sunroof drain pipe had come apart and was running into the boot. Fixed this and all dry again.
I still however get a bit of condensation.

Will have a look for s/roof drainage pipe - which seatbelt mounts are you referring to?

Where do I find the aircon drains ?

ps: all bar front door glasses and screen fitted with privacy layer - trust me if ya seen my wife you'd have blacked -out windows also :D
 
It's the trim on the sides behind the rear seats-you'll see the rear seat belts going in to them-mine was apart on the drivers side. The pipe is just below the height of the boot side window. It's a bit fiddly to get the trim loose.

Lift the carpets and check the sound deadening insulation. Mine had the "O" rings done and it was wet underneath. If it is then carefully rinse it out and dry it. I put some silica gel beads under mine to help it dry out.

A rubber tube either side of the transmission, get under the car with a torch and be prepared to get wet:eek:
 
They also leak around the boot seal
There was a recall something to do with bending the seal lip up
or most likely the main dealer bashed it a fair few times with a big hammer
no doubt one of our more anal members will post up a link lol
You could try a search for it I definitely read it somewhere on here
I will say one thing for the build quality of the range rover they certainly managed to seal the floor pan well as it doesn't let the water out roflol
 
Boot seal lip repair is listed on technical bulletins around 1995. Water in spare wheel well is usually this problem. Land rover never learn it would seem. Remove seal bend seal lip out 5mm either side of where tailgates join. Fit a strip of gas tape over lip and replace seal.

Ah I recall them now ..many thanks for all the advice to all who have helped...

now for dilemma no.2 - Opened sunroof the today and yip you've quessed it ..would not close using switch but able to open it fully with switch.

Had to resort to closing it manually after with t-bar after dropping down courtesy light to access motor. Now 'sunroof open' warning appears on dash display when ignition key removed even though roof is closed.
Fuse ok but switch doing nothing now !

Baffled as was working perfectly up to today Is this common fault ?
 
Every fault in p38 is common,you are courageous to open the sunroof especially in the winter, i don't dare to,guess you know why now lol.
 
sunroof prob you have happened on one of mine it was the switch nicked one out of one of my other RR and got a replacement switch panel from a breakers in Manchester

Thanks all , Will have a go at replacing s/roof switch and modifying tailgate seal/flange... will let ya know outcome.
Now I'm off to re-fuel with unleaded........ again ;-(((
