Vehicle 1996 Disco V8 R380 Manual. Ashcroft one piece transfer box diff pin, ashcroft lsd diff in front and kaiser locker in the rear.
As per title, was out offroading today when going up a 2nd gear hill i had to stop and reverser down. as i came down in reverse i notice there wasn't any engine braking and when i went to pull away i had no drive at all!
There were no bangs, clunks or any noises leading up to this happening. Towed it up to flat ground and checked...
Jacked up the rear of the car with it in diff lock and spun a wheel..the transfr box was locking up so it doesn't seem to be that
Took the transfer box rear cover off to see if the gearbox output shaft had stripped its teeth..it hadn't.
You can turn over the engine by hand via the crank with it in difflock and in gear with all wheels on thee ground.
Still has a normal clutch pedal feel
When the clutch is released and its in gear with the transfer box in put gear removed the output shaft of the gear box will spin but not smoothly,as it it seems like there's not alot of force spinning it.
Seems to me like the clutch might have gone or maybe the mainshaft in the gear box has sheared!
Any thoughts?
