Hi All,

Things still going well with the Sport, still managing to keep it clean with a few funny looks from the neighbours on a dark cold night!

Few things

As the title says we have picked up a small parking dent before christmas, ive spoken to Chips away and knowing me he said it wont be perfect him doing it, ive spoken to my local body shop and hes given me 2 options:

1, Get a dent company to remove the dent he will fill the chip with paint and Lacquer then leave for 24 hours and Mop it (Hard polish) £30-£50 for dent £50 for Paint repair.

2, Fill dent sand re-spray bottom door and blow into the rear door. £150 plus new sport sticker.

I am boardering on OCD about the condition of my cars so im a little concerned the 1st option wont be good enough.

While at the body shop i asked for a price for coding all the plastic trim to match the body work. He said 20 hours labour and paint = £600 and will sort the parking dent free well £50 ish.

What is everyones thoughts on the repair and also the coding? I know the new freelander is fully coded.

Depends on who is doing the work. I'd go with option 2. Most body shops can blend any paint, my local can mix 17,000 colours. They must have full oven bake facilities and thats just for heating up the sausage rolls LOL

You could of course place one of those chav-like bullet hole stickers over the dent. Cats eyes has some decent paw prints she could give you

I know my paint shop will do a great job, but i didn't know if i was going over the top with the paint job for a very small mark.... most people would leave it.

Hi Paul,

My Java black Freelander is in the body shop at the mo haveing the whole of the drivers side re-sprayed all for £340, hes also going to sort out the couple of car park dents i've picked up.

its been 3 days now, hopefully get her back soon!!

Had the Dent guy around this afternoon, did a small dent on our Boxster boot and the dent in the Freelanders door £60 for both!

Looks perfect, its mad how they can do that and he didn't even take the door trim off, less than 10 minutes each one!

Next its off to the paint shop for a fill and polish. If its not perfect im having it sprayed.

If not for the chip you wouldn't even know.

Hi,

Regarding the Parking dent, i popped the car in Monday for a touch up, then back in last night for the Lacquer, and hopefully back in tonight to be Polished.

I know it seems alot of nipping in but it means the car doesn't stay in over night and it may well save me a few quid.

If its not perfect i will get it re-sprayed in a few months.

One thing i have learnt is these Dent Guys are the real deal and if you not sure i can confirm they are worth ringing.

Hi,

So Ive had fun and games since the parking dent...... Namely some old boy parked his car into the side of ours!

The wife walked around and asked him to move it as there was still contact! And to cut a long story short they kindly agreed to pay for the work outside of our Insurance companys.

Anyway picked up the Freelander last night after having the work done and for the moment its all nice and shinny as i always keep it.

Ive decided not to have the plastic colour coded now because it would have been wrecked after the contact and as it was only scuffed the trim and brushed the rear door.

Back to norm then! soon it will all be forgotten about.

Best leave bumpers as they are. Colour coding only shows up scuffs more easily. These can be dressed out with back to black or similar bumper products. After a while you just dont notice the odd scratch
