Just had this looked at by the local garage.
They said it's the slave cylinder that's gone, but I'm as well having the clutch done too as there's not much difference once they strip it down to that level, and that if they don't do the clutch I'm liable to be back shortly with the clutch having gone..and that when the slave cylinder goes the fluid usually leaks and contaminates the clutch.
Wants £550.
Does this sound about right ?
 
you may or may not have poorly clutch ,but slave cylinder is secured to out side of bellhousing by 2 bolts and doesnt require the gear box removed or anything else .fluid wont reach the clutch ,in fact oil contamination of clutch is very rare ,fluid will drop into bottom of bell housing and leak out ,i might go somewhere else if they arent been entierly truthfull ,
