Hi Guys,
I'm not the most mechanically minded, nor do I have experience of such things, so I'm hoping I can describe the problem, and maybe someone can suggest whether it's gonna be expensive, or really expensive.. ;)
Just arrived home a short while ago, pulling into my parking space, pushed the clutch in, took my foot off and it stayed on the floor.
I can manually pull the peddle up and down but there's no resistance, and it doesn't do anything.. it's stuck in neutral.
So... who're the likely culprits ? I'm hoping beyond all hope maybe it's just the cable or something...but I expect the reality will be different.

its hydraulicly operated so either leaked fluid out ,slave cylinder or master cylinder seals or pivot has punched hole on release arm ,which would reqiuire gear box out ,check fluid level ,remove slave and check for leak and lenght push rod pokes out of housing

But to a novice that makes **** all sense guru, just one more post count.

Quick reply, thanks.. :)
Well, I think I understood what you said..something along the lines of.. may be fluid leak..major sore head.. don't expect to have any spare cash for a while. :p Any finer details may have been lost on me.
Well just been out, clutch fluid level appears normal.. no fluid on the ground or anywhere else... does that help narrow it down any ?

check pedal still attached to master cylinder rod ,with help you good check reservoir for splashing when pedals pumped this would indicate master cylinders faulty .,try bleeding at slave cylinder bleed nipple ,remove slave cylinder check seal for leaks behind gaiter ,and rod sticks out about 2-3 cms

Is the ash tray full, have you got condoms in the glovebox, fish and chip papers under the seats, sweaty bollocks??:D

In the 3yrs I've had it, it's always had a bit of a slap going into 2nd.. which can be avoided by being really gentle on the clutch... spoke to a couple of people about it and was told it's common, don't worry about it too much...

Will probably have to take it to the local garage, are we talking mega bucks ?
My biggest concern there is that when they tell me what's wrong with it, they could be talking through a hole in their backside and I prob wouldn't know.
Such is life I guess.
Any volunteers to help me push it up the hill ? :D

Where abouts are you based? Someone might be able to suggest an independent that won't give you the shaft. If I was going to guess I would say it is probably leaking at the rod that operates the clutch. If you have your wading plug fitted to the gearbox bell housing then this could be hiding the leak. There's not much fluid in the clutch system so it might only be tiny amounts that wouldn't get noticed.

I think you definatley need someone look at it given your limited mech knowledge, othewise your wide open, but it depends on if you need your car back on the road asap, with help on here and perciverance you will narrow it down, then if you have to go to a garage you can speak from an informed stand point.

Thanks for all the replies guys.
I do need it back on the road asap, and I'm just outside Glasgow if anyone can suggest someone.
I've had it for a couple of years now and its Def been a learning process, clutch/gearbox is still beyond me though. Determined to get it perfect though, took me about 10 mins to fall in love with it, and only thing I'd ever replace with is another one. ;)

Sorted my problem

If you need any assistance I'm between Cumbernauld and Coatbridge

Dont know if it helps or not but I've got a spare 2nd hand master and slave cylinder for the R380 gearbox which i replaced in the forlorn hope that that was my problem.

You're welcome to them as they are just taking space up in the garage.
