Hi all I've got a disco 2 td5 and for an age now has had a noise from the clutch especially when reversing out the yard first thing on a morning it's likes single wirry noise this has started to happen all the time now and I've put it down to being a thrust bearing so have come to the decision of pulling the box out.
What's the box like to do on the td5??

Also I've managed to pick up a brand new land rover 3 piece clutch from a guy that bought on but never used it. Does anyone know if these are the right part numbers?

UQB000120*:- clutch plate,
FTC4630 :- clutch cover/pressure plate,
FTC5200 :- release bearing

right numbers ,harder than tdi, starter has 15mm socket sized nut on eng side ,little 8mm headed bolt on tin guard passenger side ,pipe brackets on top 2 bolts can make refitting awkward, remove crank sensor first

Perfect James cheers for that much appreciated thought better to check numbers before it was pulled out to be left with no clutch.

theres an easy way to tell ,if noise happens when pedal half way down but goes when fully down it is usually spigot bush ,if still there with foot right down release bearing

spigot bush is the same as used in all earlier 4 cylinder engines ,to cure the noise ive had to emery inside out to get good fit as there often to tight especially with new one fitted i have several spare input shafts to check with you may want to borrow one

I've got a spigot bush off the net hopefully I'll be able to check it on my box before putting it back in. I've heard there's a clutch fork kit or summit of the likes that iam better changing too. Also people are saying to change the flywheel but I don't think there's nothing wrong with it so iam a bit dubious to change it

the problem is there a tight fit so may fit lovely when tried over shaft but not so when fitted and compressed , feel flywheel should be like stiff rubber feel smooth and springy

If u are already with the box off replace this too SERIES 2 2A 3 SPIGOT BUSH - 8566L | eBay IMO this is guilty for the noise u've described(u can order it from any store i just wanted u to see the part nr. and how it looks)

Had to machine up a spigot bush from a phosphor bronze blank many moons ago when the old bush had a wobble on and a standard part wouldn't fit.:cool:

Remember to check the flywheel face for scores and cracks, you don't know who been there before.

Cheers guys I've just put another thread about a flywheel conversion too all help much appreciated
