Ever since I've had my 90 the clutch pedal has had half-a-pedals worth of slack at the top end of it before resistance is felt and it engages for the bottom half of the pedal, and it also has quite a low-biting point.

A few weeks back I bled the system and there was no change in the pedals behaviour, gear changes did seem a bit smoother afterwards but it could of been my imagination. It's not losing any clutch fluid either.

The bottom half of the pedal also seems to be a bit 'sticky', where upon attempting letting the pedal up very slowly it will feel like it sticks and then un-sticks with a noise, a bit like a creak, it will do this several times during the travel, but only when letting it up slowly.

Other then these things the clutch does operate normally. But is there anything I can do to have a full pedal with a biting point slightly higher off the floor, and less 'sticky' creaking? Or is it a case of put up with it until something breaks? :D Cheers. :)

you can check rod doesnt need adjusting in pedal box under top plate ,adjust it toward end of rod away from cylinder to improve pedal, cheap 1/2 or 13mm ring spanner with slot cut helps

The sticky feeling may be that it has had a bit of oil on it in the past. There is not a lot you can do about that except replace the clutch and unless it is a problem Id live with it till it wears out. But if your pedal is low, it coudl be that it just does not quite disengage fully, so adjusting the play might sort that too.

Occasionally it can feel like the clutch hasn't fully disengaged. Haven't had a chance to take a look at it yet, been raining all day. :( I'm away tomorrow and the weekend so hopefully I'll get a chance to try the adjustment at the start of next week.

does it have a load of slack at the top? my pedal moves half way as if its not connected to anything, then the last half is nice clutch movement.. is that a case of adjusting the rod and the bolt on the front?

that sticking business is like my old one, caused by the oil making the joints abit grabbly...

Been rather busy this week :( Had to postpone the adjustment til the weekend.

Yes that's what mine is like. The sticky-ness has died down a bit for now, I gave the pivot a spray of WD40 from the footwell a while a go and it seems to have sunk in a bit and done it some good.

My bite had recently started to get really low until it finally went altogether. Clutch to the floor, start it up and off it goes! Slave cylinder had rotted to ****.

Got around to doing it today, just been for a drive and there's much of an improvement. There is little slack in the pedal (about the normal amount, I think) and it is a lot smoother, gear changes are nicer now as it now obviously must not have been fully disengaging before.

Bite point is now quite high which is to be expected on a clutch having covered 150K miles. I think I may adjust it back ever so slightly tomorrow to lower it just a tad to make it a bit more comfortable, til I can afford a new 'un.

Thanks for the help, pleased to have a much nicer pedal now. :)
