Every time l change down from 5th, l get a very distinctive clicking noise from somewhere on the gearbox. (It only happens in 5th) My reverse lights are also not working. Could the 2 be related. Ie: reverse light switch?

Mine does exactly the same when changing down from 5th. A very distinctive " click " sound. Been like it for the last 7 years !!!.
Your reversing lights will jyst be a knackered switch. Test by crossing the terminals to see if the lights go on. Either that ir a fuse.

Sorry mine does it is air coming out to level motor up

click is a reverse lock to stop you going straight from 5th to reverse,to select reverse lever has to be pushed to the left to let lock clear the clearing of lock is the click you hear,

Thanks for that, at least it's one less thing to worry about. I thought it might be some serious gearbox fault.

So probably more to worry about if you DONT hear it !!.
