Hello!!

I picked up my first rangie yesterday, and on the drive home I noticed it....clanks a bit. Mainly pulling off, or if I go from Drive to Reverse, or Reverse to Drive. Also does it on and off the power if I'm not gentle with it.

It sounds like the transmission is taking up slack, but not doing it in a very refined manor!!

Am I looking at worn joints on the Props or is it something less expensive??

Any advice would be appreciated!

Check the A Frame ball joint first.

Probably the Universal joints on the Prop.

Can the UJ's be changed or do I need to replace the entire prop???

I would go and look, but the cars not in the same place as me!!

Yes, they can be replaced as I've had mine done.

what year rangie and what modle viscous t box or lt230?

Its an '87, with the non viscous transfer box.
