hey...
i need help. when i bought my disco in april it already had a chip in the windscreen, but it seemed to have been filled in. but i have recently had a new radiator fitted and my heating is back up and running and i think the heat inside and the cold outside has caused my window to crack. can anyone give me any advice on where i can get my window replaced fairly cheap before it gets worse without going through my insurance as i dont have glass cover.
cheers
bex n tom

Hi
I know its sounds obvious but have you checked your insurance policy? most companies include glass cover with no loss of NCD and little or no excess to pay. Check it out and maybe save £££££s

Autoglass/National Windsreens/Autoscreen Repairs(Doncaster752344) etc.. They're all much the same but usually give good service. Don't know all numbers, try Google.

i will have to ring my insurance tomorrow. i have got my insurance cert and everything but cant find the bloody policy booklet.lol.
and if i have no luck there i will try one of those glass places. i have checked a few out but yhey only give quotes if you are fully comp. il check some more out
cheers you guys

Well, if i take it to an Auto glass centre, and the quote included the 20% off cos i rang and cos i'm with the AA as well, its £360. Which is including VAT, labour and lifetime guarentee. Not bad, but think i'll ask my local indy and breakers if they can do a deal. Or something. Seeing as both know me by voice ("ah yes the lady with the clutch" ................)

£360? is it an ES model with electrically heated screen by any chance? got me worried now cos I got a chip on mine too. I think its out of line of sight so MOT should be OK.

Just found another one in my little black book but it may be too far away for you: Kevin at Windscreen Services, Bradford 01274 307848.

Check its filled properly, i thought mine was, but it was internal, mines cracked due to the heat inside cold outside, but i was told by autoglass that, seeing as its laminated safety glass, it wont shatter. Just keeping an eye on it. Until insurance renewal upto fully comp with 4YNC, ringing autoglass back then lol.

And no, it's not heated, so add about £150 :D

Oh and Cabbie, cheers mate :)

I had my windscreen smash from a stone last summer. Rang around a few places near home (Lancaster) and found majority were priced a bit high. Found one after a few calls that fitted the screen for £120 + VAT. I'll get the name if you're interested.

pm'ed the detail's you requested..

for my non heated screen i paid 50 pound's including delivery.

didn't take long to fit it myself(and a mate lol)
