HI all ,can anyone tell me how much pressure it shoud take on a bar to turm the front wheel when cheking the vc cupling.Mine is hard to turn but moves with constant pressure.also found play in front uj ,greased them all ,had a humming noise at 55 goes away at 60+think its the play in the uj .worse when towing which is best at 55 .hey ho :)

thanks ,if you have different sized tyres front and back apart from them wearing out fast ,would the make the vc move more (for a short time to stop it seizing.

opposite happens uneven tyres will make it constantly work hard seizing it up you should allways have 4 equall tyres

No but it's a fooking good way to make it seize. For the noise look at diff pinion bearings if it gets worse when towing. Rear diff most likely.

na noise def at the front, and tyres all the same and vc does move (BE IT QUITE STIFF) Just a though if it never gets worked it might seize, cheers.o and uj has play get small vibration through ashtray cover ,shes a funny old girl .

No, they are just crap and will seize, easy to replace if you can find a good s/h unit

Don't buy a s/h unit unless you can test it on the donor vehicle first, it isn't worth the hassle of fitting the replacement VC only to find that it's no better than the one you've just taken off. Been there, got the T shirt!

As I said, if you can find a good one.
Had a spare on a scrap car so it was free and I had driven the spare car before.
Using s/h saved me loads of money and if the s/h VC is cheap its worth a try as changing it is easy
