Hi gents, I have a 1999my dhse auto and I want to check the gearbox oil level but I cant find any info on how to just 'check' the level. Can anyone help me out. Do I simply remove the filler plug and see if there is any in it? This is all far to complicated for an old geezer like me who is used to rather simpler vehicles.

Yep remove filler plug and the oil level when cold, engine running and gone through the gears from P through to 1 and back to P again should be up to the filler hole, fill till it dribbles out, go through gears again and recheck level.

As I suspected. Decided not to tackle it after all but thanks anyway,

Hi Spacepig, thank you for your answer. I had already decided to leave it as I only recently changed the fluid in any case. All the best.
