Hi all, just wired up alternator on the series, the 2 wires that are on the back of the charge light have been cut, would I be right in saying 1 goes to the small connector on alternator and the other to any live feed for example the battery cable connecting the starter motor. Thanks

one goes to alternator the other goes to ignition. Google land rover manuals pdf. The service manuals have very clear wiring diagrams in towards the end

Light should be on with ignition on, off when running. You need to connect one side of the bulb to a switched live and the other to the small connector on the alternator. If it's on when running check the volts across the battery 'cos it implies the alternator's broke and not providing enough volts to charge.

Thanks for the reply, just realized when I was doing this, I didn't have the alternator wired to the battery, would that be the reason for the light being on all the time?

Aye, alternator needs to go straight to the battery side of the starter solenoid and you might need to give it a few revs to get the light to go out.
