Hi,

I replaced my bulkhead and figured it would be wise to swap the wiring looms over because they looks pretty much the same and a quick look at wiring diagrams made me happy to do the switch, the old one was looking tired.
When i turn the key nothing happens except a few relays tick. However if i run a wire directly from the battery to the spade connector on the starter solenoid (where the white+red wire goes) I get life and the engine turns over - regardless of ignition being on or off.
So I was wondering if i need to use the tdi's ignition stitch as opposed to my 19j one? Or if there is a way to make it work.
Thanks

Jasper

Do TDI's glow plugs work off the ignition switch like the 19j's do?

Not that sure, there seems to be the relevant wire (thick red and brown) that is in the clump of wires that lead to the ignition however the tdi ignition terminals do not seem to accommodate large red/brown spade connection.

The tdi glow plugs run off timer relay in the engine bay so no large wire connection on tdi ignition switch.Just connect up to plugs and hold key for glow as you did with 19j.
