My 110 200tdi exhaust is nearing the end of its life. I was considering replacing the centre box with a straight through item.

Has anyone else done this and, if so, what are the advantages?

Well my 90 i feed it made me get better acceleration and better poke, also, it sounds lovely without being too loud if thats your thing :) mine wasnt loud enough so i changed to having a side exit :D

It helps by allowing the turbo to spin up a bit easier as the is less restriction in the exhaust, it will aid in a bit better acceleration by bringing the turbo up to speed a bit quicker, definitly worth it and the noise won't be much louder than standard...

Had the same scenario last year on my 110 200Tdi, removed the centre box and replaced it with a stainless bypass pipe (available from Britpart dealer), it was good quality (for a change) and replaced the rear section with a genuine parts one with the small can. It accelerates better and does better mpg, bit more noise but in a good way! Definitely recommended :D

when i put the exhaust on my 90 the normal steel centre box and a stainless steels bypass pipe was the same price so i went for the stainless bypass pipe it will last much longer

not sure if its the same deal on a 110

Whats the story with f*king around with your standard exhaust as far as MOT goes and insurance?

Im sure I read somewhere a cat is not required if the vehicle is over a certain weight!

If your correct then and im not doubting you. Isnt it something you almost must do. £50 cat replacement pipe, bit more power and better feeling on the throttle and possibly improved mpg?

What about removing silencers, centre box for example would that give you any issues with MOT?
