my central locking started playing up today on my 2004 TD5!
firstly the nearside rear door would not unlock with either the key fob, door key or dashboard button!

I have checked all fuses, took door card off and checked connections and lubed mechanical bits. this made no difference!
then i noticed that the other side rear door stopped opening too!

can any one help me with a solution? I've heard that an ECU reset may solve the problem? and if so is that possible to do myself?

any help will be greatly received as its driving me crazy!!!!!!!
 
If the front doors are normally working then it's a door lock actuator or wiring issue... IMO it's a coincidence that both ceded at the same time ... the "ECU reset" is not an option, especially that they are managed by the BCU;) ....which u can't reset either
 
There's just a chance that unlock servo in the lock is faulty it has been known. Do a search in the forum for more info.

just put your ear close to the actuator while unlocking with the fob...if u hear any activity inside there u can search for an other actuator.

... but before u spend money worth a try this one too Discovery 2 rear door lock fix ... it seems similar with your problem, maybe you're lucky, at least one side :)

Ive checked the actuators this morning and they are both making a noise on activation! They lock off the fob and the key but not the dash switch? And the only way to open the door is manually with the handle! Looking like 2 new actuators are required!!!
This landy is bleeding me dry:-(

Each lock has two actuators, lock and unlock, so can you can hear the de- activation working, beware they could dead lock, then we have a problem Houston
 
How easy are the actuators to replace? And how do I identify lock or unlock actuator? Would it be easier to get a replacement lock unit from a breakers?
