The wierd thing is that when i lock the car with the key it loxks and alarms everything doors and boot......but not on the fob.....wy would there be any difference?

No the fob is sync'd hence it will still lock and alarm the doors and the rest of the car.....like i said just not the boot.......

what would be the first thing to check??????

Fuse 14 -Rear central door locking, fuel flap solenoid, trailer socket, tailgate central door locking - So if these other functions still work, unlikely to be the fuse.

As I said above check the Lock Motor.....

Also check the wiring to the lower tailgate.
