Hi all,

This is my first post: I've owned a 2001 Freelander V6 (ES?) for about a year now.

I don't think a central lock is installed in my vehicle. It has a remote immobilizer and locking the using it locks all doors and the rear door. Fyi I think the has more options than the standard one: cruise control, sun roof, heated seats, leather seats etc.

Are there any options to get a central lock for the car that I can operate and lock when the engine is running, and at the same time not mess up with the existing immobilizer and security system.

Many thanks in advance,

if you can lock all the doors with the remote, then you have central locking.
And mine has a switch down near the sunroof switch that will lock all the doors from inside if you so wish too with engine running or not.
Also.....im still new here also.....but..........post up your first post in the " introduce yourself" section.
Then Youll get great help from here .
good luck

Thanks!

However there is no lock button. The one next to the rear window (RHD) is blank. Other switches are: Sunroof, left and right seat heating. :-(

there does seem a bit of difference between the years
I have the rear window switch, central locking switch, then sunroof
and below that either side the heated seats switching.
hopefully some one else will be able to help, im still new to landrovers and learning a lot as I go.

My CDL (internal doors all lock) switch was missing. When you pull the blanking plate oft you may see a connector behind it. If you do then buy the switch and fit it and it will probably work.

Thanks, Hippo. You mean remove the dummy switch there? Or take off the cover and look for wires?

Also, not directly related but any idea how I can find the exact specs of my car? Like the options I came wth?

Many thanks, I really appreciate the help!

Hello everyone,

An update: I took out the dummy switch and that was it there was nothing inside.

Do I have any options? I do need to have the ability to lock all doors (and the boot door if possible).

Is having an existing working security system (that in theory immobilizes the engine) complicating matters?

Most grateful for any thoughts.

All Freelanders should come with the interior lock button on the dashboard or doors somewhere. I was under the impression it was a standard feature.

Check your handbook for info.

I think ur right there mate

mines a former commercial 3 door and came with the interior door lock

Could be that cars built for your part of the world don't have the interior locking due to local laws, I know Japanese market cars do not have the alarm enabled.
Someone with a download version of Rave may be able to give you an exact build date and spec for your car from the vin

Take a photo of the armrest switches and the centre console switches so we can see what you've got fitted.

Also what's the 11th character in your VIN?
