Hey guys!

Recently I have been having slight problems with actually using the center diff properly, as in I have no idea what positions its meant to go in, and most posts I find are confusing or not really helpful, I can only seem to drive forward in L and reverse in H, am I right in saying it should be in High, pushed to the right, for normal road driving? as I think I had it to the left, would rather make sure before I break anything haha

with hi /lo lever pushed over to the left center diff lock should engage ,over to the right it should be disengaged you can test by jacking up one front wheel it should spin free when not in diff lock and not turn when diff lock engaged ,if drive is lost in an axle ie diff ,halfshaft ,drive memeber broken or worn ,vehicle wont move unless center diff is engaged ie lever over to the left ,hi and lo have nothing to do with center diff lock ,they just happen to use the same lever
 
You want it in the following:

1. H (to the right and forwards) for normal road driving
2. L (to the right and back) for very slow speed driving (for more control) either on or off road. Your top speed in 5th will be walking speed though
3. H Diff Lock (to the left and forwards) use this when driving short distances on snow/ice on the roads (never had to personally)
4. L Diff Lock (to the left and backwards) when on slippery terrain at low speed off road.

Never use difflock when driving on grippy surfaces like Tarmac, the tyres need to be able to 'slip' or the transmission will wind up and break.
 
Ah perfect thanks! :D Finally some posts I can understand about it haha! hopefully I haven't worn anything drying with the diff engaged, it was only a very short distance though, as in probably 50 meters if that haha

you can drive in diff lock for quite a while ive known some do it for weeks though its not best practice,
 
Is it normal for the diff lock stick to be very stiff? I find myself having to pull as hard as i can to get it to lock into position, or am I doing something wrong?
 
May just need a grease from lack of use.

Mine intermittently doesn't go in nice, as you are putting it into difflock ever so slightly bring the clutch up to the biting point for a fraction of a second to mesh the gears.

If it doesn't come out or the light stays in saying you are still in difflock then just reverse a couple feet to unwind everything and it will disengagae

I take it you mean high / low ratio? Diff lock should be a simple push / pull of the lever, even while on the move.

yes sorry, you are correct, i meant into low from high when stationary, it sometimes feels like it only half goes in and on occasion it has jumped out.

First time it did it i thought i had broken something.

Difflock goes in fine, although havent tried in HIGH.

When coming out of a lane etc I often go from low to high by double de-clutching

hui/low is a basic dog clutch so some clutching is often necessary
